Provo, Utah: budget $82 per rep for the solicitor permit, not $76. The city’s current Consolidated Fee Schedule lists the solicitor at $72.00 per employee and the solicitor’s identification badge at $10.00 per employee. Checked 13 September 2026.
What was wrong, and where it came from
The sixteen-city permit reference, the permit lookup and the City Clerk Call Sheet all gave Provo’s fee as $76 for the license and badge together. That figure was quoted from the city’s licensing page at provo.org, read on 6 September 2026. That page no longer loads. The city’s site is now provo.gov, and its Solicitor Permit page publishes no fee, so the fee schedule is the figure all three pages now use. Neither source says when $76 stopped being the number.
The second correction: how long a temporary certificate lasts
The same old page said a rep starts on a “two (2) week temporary license.” Provo’s code says a temporary certificate is granted or denied the same business day a completed application is submitted (6.09.080), and expires after twenty-five calendar days or when the city decides on the annual certificate, whichever comes first (6.09.100). The code is current through Ordinance 2026-17, passed 9 June 2026.
What did not change
The hours are still 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mountain for anyone, licensed or not (6.09.190), and the city badge is still worn prominently while soliciting (6.09.110).
What to do
If a Provo budget was built on $76, change the per-rep line to $82. The new Provo permit page lists all seven things each rep brings to the counter, including two pieces of paperwork the company can supply instead of each rep.
