Delray Beach, Floridapartly read · no solicitor permit chapter since 2021, business tax receipt schedule lists peddlers and solicitors, hours not found
Partly read: the permit answer is sourced, but the fee or the hours could not be read from the city’s own pages. The clerk questions below cover the gap.
- The answer: Not confirmed. Delray Beach repealed its solicitors and peddlers chapter in 2021 (Ord. No. 07-21); the new Chapter 118 covers panhandling, not door-to-door sales (Chapter 118, editor's note). What remains is the local business tax: the schedule lists "Peddlers of Merchandise", including agents or solicitors working for out-of-town businesses with no place of business in the city (110.15). Whether a door-to-door service team must buy a receipt, and for whom, is not spelled out.
- Where it comes from: Local business tax receipts are procured from the city's Building Official (110.02). The city's business tax pages were not readable (see Code).
- Fee: The schedule's default is $190.30 a year for each classification, "except as noted" (110.15). For peddlers "not otherwise enumerated" it prints a license tax per day of 30.82 for each person, with no dollar sign; the line for agents or solicitors of out-of-town businesses prints no separate amount (110.15). The code does not say which line a door-to-door service rep falls under.
- Hours you may knock: Not found. No door-to-door hours appear in Title 11 (Business Regulations), the Title 13 offense chapters, or Title 9 Chapters 97, 100 and 102; the old solicitor chapter that might have held them was repealed.
- What the rep carries: Not published in the chapters read.
- What takes the time: Not published. A receipt is valid no more than one year and expires on September 30 (110.04).
- Code: Delray Beach Code of Ordinances, Title 11 — Business Regulations, Chapter 110 — Local Business Taxes Generally (110.02, 110.15), and Chapter 118 — Miscellaneous Provisions and Offenses. Municode shows the code codified through Ordinance No. 13-26, enacted February 24, 2026 (Supp. No. 51). The city's own business tax pages on delraybeachfl.gov returned Access Denied to automated reading.

Ask the clerk, and write the answer down:
- Whether a door-to-door fiber or service rep needs a local business tax receipt, and whether it is per rep or per company
- Which line of the 110.15 schedule applies to a door-to-door service sales team, and the amount
- Whether the city has any door-to-door hours rule or no-solicitation sign rule outside Title 11
- Whether Palm Beach County also requires a county business tax receipt for the same team
