Lauderhill, Floridapartly read · no solicitor permit chapter; business tax receipt rules may apply; no hours set; no soliciting sign rule
Partly read: the permit answer is sourced, but the fee or the hours could not be read from the city’s own pages. The clerk questions below cover the gap.
- The answer: The code has no solicitor or peddler permit. Its door-to-door division (14-116) regulates conduct only — the "No Soliciting" sign rule — and names no permit, fee or registration. Separately, the business chapter treats "soliciting business or offering goods or services for sale or hire" as doing business (12-4), which brings in the certificate of use and local business tax receipt article (Chapter 12, Article II). Whether that applies to reps knocking for an out-of-town company is not stated. See the City Clerk Call Sheet.
- Fee: No solicitor fee is published. The local business tax schedule was searched and shows no solicitor or peddler class.
- Hours you may knock: The code sets no knocking hours.
- What the rep carries: The code names nothing a rep must carry or wear.
- Code: Lauderhill Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14 — Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions, Article VI — Solicitors and Peddlers, Division 3 — Door-to-Door Solicitation (14-116); Chapter 12 — Business Regulations, Article I (12-4, 12-5) and Article II. Municode shows the code codified through Ordinance No. 26O-05-112, enacted June 8, 2026 (Supp. No. 213).
- Worth knowing: Walk straight to the front door and look for a sign reading NO SOLICITATION INVITED or NO SOLICITING; if one is posted, leave at once without leaving literature. Never enter a side or rear yard uninvited, and leave when asked (14-116(c)). Ringing in defiance of the sign is declared a trespass, with a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) per offense (14-116(d), (e)(3)). Chapter 12 also makes it unlawful to conduct any business other than within the confines of a permanent structure or an approved mobile vending vehicle (12-5); how the city applies that to door-to-door sales is not stated.

Ask the clerk, and write the answer down:
- Does a door-to-door sales rep or company need a Lauderhill certificate of use or local business tax receipt, and at what amount
- Does the city read 12-5 (business only inside a permanent structure) as covering door-to-door sales
- Are there any knocking hours the police enforce
