• The answer: Yes — a solicitor license, per rep, plus a city-issued solicitor photo ID card. The code says each individual solicitor shall obtain a license (5.20.030). The company itself also needs a current Murrieta business license, per the city's solicitor form.
• Where it comes from: The Business License division, 1 Town Square, 951-461-6042. The application is online. Murrieta Police run the background check interview and Human Resources takes the photo for the ID card, per the city's Solicitor Fees, Process and Information Form.
• Fee: Per rep, from the city's solicitor form: Solicitor License $52.15 a year, Solicitor Photo ID $15.65 a year, Background/LiveScan $285.79 one time, and a $4.00 state CASp fee a year. The form totals the start fees for a W2 employee at $357.56 (the four lines as printed add to three cents more than that). A 1099 independent contractor also buys a business license at $104.30 a year, and the form totals that rep at $461.89. The form carries no date.
• Hours you may knock: Not before ten a.m. (the code spells it out), and not after five (5:00) p.m. during Pacific Standard Time or seven (7:00) p.m. during Pacific Daylight Time (5.20.170).
