• The answer: No city solicitor permit in the current code. The permit division of the peddlers and solicitors article (12-51 to 12-54) was repealed by Ord. No. 2023-33 on July 27, 2023. The conduct rules in 12-32 still bind every canvasser or solicitor, defined to include anyone going house to house taking orders for goods or for services (12-31). • Fee: None published for solicitors; with the permit division repealed, the code sets no solicitor fee. The general local business tax receipt (40-132) is tied to one business address or physical location in the city, and the code does not say whether an out-of-town door-to-door company needs one.
• Hours you may knock: No uninvited sales calls before 9:00 a.m. and after 8:30 p.m. (12-32(3)).
• What the rep carries: Nothing required now that no permit exists; 12-32(5) still says to show a solicitor's permit identification card "if required to possess one." On request of any officer or the person solicited, the rep must give his name and the company he works for (12-32(6)).
