Thousand Oaks, California: door-to-door solicitor permit

• The answer: Yes. No one may work as a peddler, hawker, transient or itinerant merchant, solicitor, drummer or canvasser in Thousand Oaks without a City permit. The employer obtains a permit, and each employee who solicits, peddles or hawks for that employer must also get a City identification card (3-8.02).
• Where it comes from: The applicant appears in person before the Finance Department and, if the Finance Department directs, the Police Department, and files a written application on the City's form (3-8.03). The Chief of Police approves the application (3-8.04).
• Fee: Not published in the code.
