• The answer: Yes — a peddler license from the City Clerk (Ch. 74, §3, §7). Troy's "peddler" includes anyone going house to house taking orders for goods for future delivery or for services to be performed in the future, and includes canvassers (§2(b)). The license carries the rep's own name, address and photo (§12), so it is one per rep.
• Where it comes from: The Troy City Clerk's Office, 500 West Big Beaver. The Clerk takes the fingerprint, routes the application to the approving department(s), and on approval contacts the applicant for the license term and issues the license with a Do Not Knock info sheet once the license fee is paid.
